Musings about life through the eyes of an old helicopter pilot.
wow, gotta love these old vets, such amazing tells!
That got me.A family friend, Barrett O'Hara fought against the Japanese in the Pacific campaign with a Trombone. His mission was to follow the submarine fleet and play music to welcome the submariners back and to see them off. He made many friends amongst the sub crews in the beginning but stopped himself after many did not come back. He'd spend time alone near the LZ watching aircraft takeoff and land, some on fire, some crashing, some landing perfectly like nothing ever happened.
