Please, Pardon My Language

... (But in light of the emotions of this weekend I am furious at this behavior.)
I know the sonuvabitch knows how to salute...
I've seen him do it every time he gets off Air Force One on a military base, (even though the closest HE ever got to actually wearing a uniform was when he put on his Native garb in Kenya.)
Like Clinton, it makes me cringe every time I see him degrade our troops by saluting!
So why can he not put his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is being played?
What is it with this "crotch salute"?

Remember in November!

A warning sign ignored by a narrow majority of voters in November of 2008. It will be interesting to see if they have learned anything.

As Commander in Chief I believe he should put his hand over his heart. As a private citizen, if I am wearing a hat I remove it and hold it over my heart, but if not I normally just put my hands to my sides or clasp behind my back. That was the way I was taught to do it. Hand over the heart for the Pledge of Allegiance and respectful attention to the flag for Star Spangled Banner.

I would be nothing short of delighted to see any indication that this man respects the flag and the country "for which it stands", Ingineer...
A simple "standing respectfully at attention" here would have been great, don't ya think?!
Putting his hand over his heart? Even better.
Instead, he seems to be touching himself.

It's obvious what the man is doing.
He got the top spot and now he rides it out and gets the Cupie Doll at the end of his run!
Is the world any better after these types have at it?

It is very plain, this man does not consider himself an American Citizen. If he did, he would do the proper thing. He is exposing himself in more ways that one.
I have to wonder how people elected into office and making a certain salary, end up being millionaires at the end of their term. I think a great balance on the corruption would be, when leaving office,(after term limits of course) all of them and their families should have an extensive audit done. Might slow down the scum running.
I am still yelling from the top of the trees, for impeachment or even for a recall election due to mis- management.
When our President is suppose to lead by example and does the things he has done, has to be one of the most scary things I have seen done to a great country.

That's an oldie that's been around or awhile and Snopes dealt with it. He didn't salute, they said, because in this case, the others had saluted him as he was there to speak or something like that. Check out Snopes for the exact details. Most of the time people believe what they want about such things and I doubt many who really hate him will bother to look it up

Hi Rain.
I'm not sure you're addressing the subject at hand here...
Obama saluting, or being saluted is not the real issue here, it's just a side irritation for me.
What we're addressing here is respect for our National ensign.
All the others on this podium are showing their respect...
Why can our President(?) not AT LEAST stand at attention with his hands away from his privates?

And Snopes?
That's another issue. We Conservatives trust Snopes about as much as we can trust the New York Times or Dan Rather on CBS News these days, which is to say, not at all.
I use www.truthorfiction.com/

Good to hear from you.
You're always welcome here.

They said they were playing Hail to the Chief and if that is the case, then it's not appropriate for him to salute himself. Snopes seemed to have the details on when it was taken. I got it in an email from a conservative friend quite awhile ago which is why I say it's been around awhile..

I am not a huge fan of Obama right now but if people stick to the issues that he is actually not dealing with or is and not well, that's better than stories like this one that likely are not true. He'd have to be nuts these days to not salute or whatever when they played the National Anthem. He might be wrong but I don't think he's crazy.

Believe what you want. (Three in that picture apparently don't understand the huge respect shown by the "crotch salute"!)

the golden horse said...

Rain can try and justify it all he wants, but the previous Presidents Saluted. Respect is respect, you call it what it is.
This isn't the only picture of him in disrespect to our country. He didn't start wearing the American Flag pin, until several pointed it out. Again worn by previous Presidents.
This is just the tip of the iceberg with this man.

I was only discussing the one picture not going to get into it all because I well understand how people feel about Obama. They didn't vote for him, didn't want him, and feel he's damaging our country. I felt all of it for 8 years and understand all too well the anger and frustration when you feel this great country is being undermined by someone else's political agenda that is all wrong.

Currently I only wish I believed we were on a path to fixing all that damage done during those years, but I am not sure we are either. I don't though see any leaders from the right who will make a difference. I think it will take someone from a third way of thinking to change any of it. You can see tea partiers as possibly being the savior and that probably is more comforting than my thinking which is that nothing out there is going to fix it. To me the tea party group don't understand what government does, want say a tough military, tax cuts, all their services, some of them social security and medicare, and all of that without paying for it. For me, I want a new group to rise up who are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I am not sure it can happen. I think it might be too late and it's not just Bush I blame but a long string of unwise choices that we made as a people of wanting things without counting the cost. We have, left and right, lost our toughness. Worse, we cannot even communicate with each other anymore. We all get caught up in symbolisms and lose the reality of what is happening.

I won't go on more with it. I write too much about it in my own blog and sure don't need to upset someone else's, but just wanted you to know that one photo wasn't what you had been told.

The problem, Rain, as I've shown and you apparently don't want to see, is it's NOT just ONE photo. As Golden Horse suggested, it's a whole string of things the left wanted to ignore because like you, they hated George Bush so much they were willing to make a pact with the devil himself if necessary to facilitate "Change". Now we have a chief executive with no experience who thinks he can campaign problems away, then either go whack a golf ball or gather a group of friends together to listen to Paul McCartney do "hits from the 60's". Meanwhile, our enemies sense weakness and are encircling us.
As many of us saw beforehand, having a Chief Exec. with NO executive experience is now costing us DEARLY.
Now we have the change, and folks who should have seen this coming are instead having buyer's remorse.

I stop by your blog now and then and I'm surprised and pleased to read that you understand how devastating the illegal immigration problem is. (And as always, I have to admit you have more patience with naive left-leaners with your responses than I am.)

Your understanding of Tea-partiers is wrong. We want less spending and are perfectly happy knowing that means less services. That's fine, 'cause we also know government has a tendency to screw things up while spending oceans of money, and most people's lives were actually better before our government became our nanny.
I don't need someone as brilliant as Joe Biden telling me how to live my life, thank you.

We DO agree on one thing...
It has taken a string of "Progressive" screw-ups to get us so far in debt we no longer have any options. Things are gonna get REALLY ugly soon.
Be prepared.

Well I am glad you stop by now and then. I think I am going to save my political opinions for a second blog (after one more on immigration and one on my idea for a new third party) which I started a long time ago but only began to use publicly with the recent Arizona trip where I had written a lot on politics (some of which you wouldn't like but some you would). There are many things I agree with right wingers on which is why I am not a good fit in any party.

As for the tea partiers, most of them, when interviewed want the government benefits that they use or their families depend on. What they want to cut is what somebody else uses. I don't disagree that government has its problems though-- whichever party runs it. You and I are not likely to ever vote for the same person but I think we hope for the best for our country. We just have different ideas on what that means.

It's not looking good at all though for the near future at least and if this oil keeps gushing and spreads to the Atlantic, which is already in trouble, politics will be the least of our problems as humans :(

Rain,

So many people voted for O this last election, that would have never crossed the aisles before. He would never have made it, if the white people didn't want a change also. So them calling the right bigots and racists is so very passe.
I didn't vote for the man, something didn't feel right about it. Something was amiss, but I too, wanted change.
We were misled, as most of us will now admit. We were lied to with the worst intentions.
I will admit, Pres. Bush made some serious errors. I also know we were fighting a war like never before. We were also much safer here than before. Fiscally, it did go south when the left took over the checkbooks again. Go back and look at the graphs and see when the change started.
He had more people in his adminstration that had actually ran a company or had proper training. We are now dealing with an agenda that has nothing to do with taking care of the people or this country. We have it in their own words. we have them on tape. These are not lies.
Even with all of his errors, I was never once this scared or sad for my country.
I know if things don't change and soon, we will not recognize this country at all. At least the country we grew up loving.
I fear for my life, my children's life and am so very sad for my grandchildren's future, if any.

Rain Trueax said...

I am concerned also. We are not heading down a road that feels promising. Worse most of want what we want without cost. It's a very worrisome time whichever side we are on :(

the golden horse said...

Rain,

Thank you for having an open mind and willing to see both sides. Some would never admit that things are bad and getting worse.
We have to stop the power of the Unions, we have to stop giving and instead encouraging those that take and take to stand up and take care of themselves. Until we do, we are sunk.
By 2020 every dime we put into tax paying with be eaten up for Social Services. That means, nothing at all left for schools, roads, bridges and so on. We have to change and change now.
We have to make OUR Gov't understand, they work for us, not the other way around.
We put them in and we can take them out.
I don't care whose in control right now nor their color, if they are doing wrong for this country, get rid of them at the next election. If your party or my party isn't doing our bidding, out with them also.
I think if a Gov't official making $170,000 a year, leaves with more money than he entered his office, there should be a full investigation of him and his family. It will be clear, he isn't in there for the country.

I just do not like his disdain for the military. This year he skipped out on the Memorial Day ceremony and sent Biden. Last year on 9/11 he went to the Pentagon ceremony and I listened to it on the radio. It was the most ho-hum disrespectful thing I have ever heard from a President. It felt like he was saying "They made me come over here and give this speech at the Pentagon and I really didn't want to, but I have to". He showed none of the enthusiasm he has when he is talking about hamburgers or college sports or how bad things were during the last 8 years.
