That's like the sneak pass the opposing solo does in the Blues current routene. Saw them a couple months ago at NAS Brunswick - the diamond formation and the lead soloist do a high speed pass, then break away from the crowd. Everyone is watching their afterburners when the opposing solo comes from behind everyone, with the blowers going strong, and makes everyone jump. It's a hellofa sight! Better still when you know it's coming and can watch people's reaction.

Somewhere's there's a clip of some guys doing a similar a stunt over a hill with a Buff. Same guys that cartwheeled it into Fairchild later.
Speaking of the Blue Angels, I miss the A-4's, but even in '77 their shiny blue skins were getting a little wrinkled from all that tomfoolery.
