Differing Perspectives

I tried like crazy to figure out how to get down here with the newer GoldWing.
None of our cars has a trailer hitch on it, so renting a trailer is out.
A call to Penske to check on a truck resulted in a price about half-again what I felt I could afford. (But they dropped their price trying like crazy to satisfy me, then called back to insure they had covered all the bases. Good on 'em.)

There was another possibility-
Rent a bike once we got here. The Harley Dealer over in Ft. Walton will rent us a bike similar to the one shown... $2,000 deposit, $300 for the weekend.
I swallowed hard... seemed a little steep to me.
Two Harley-riding family members from Chicago are here with us. They expressed surprise at how cheap that price was.

I'm once again reminded how "frugal" I am.
(Sour grapes anyway... I bet there are no bikes available this weekend with "Thunder on the beach" going on in Panama City!)

Shoot. I didn't think anybody rented bikes anywhere anymore. I'd consider yourself lucky. I don't think there's ANYbody in Fornicalia who'd rent anyone a bike.

Speaking of which, I'm on a brief vacation in Sparks, Nevada, just east of Reno. Checked out Freedom Cycles in Reno, for a Triumph Rocket III. Guy had a 2011 Roadster for $15K. HUGE damned bike. I'd sat on one in Sacramento, and the Roadster in Reno was taller. I don't get that. Somehow I'd have to have the seat lowered or something. My toesies just barely touch pavement and that's not good for something that weighs 800 pounds.

Beautiful bike, though. Horrendously unique and eye-catching. A rear tire the size of something from a 767.

Ummm, okay Dana.
I don't know exactly how to take your comment. Reading your blog, I suspect you had tongue firmly in cheek, and if that is the case I have to say, thank you anyway, (I comment under the pseudonym Greybeard.)

See if there's an Eagle Riders rental place nearby. I rented a Harley Davidson Fat Boy from them a couple years ago over a three-day weekend for $250.00. No deposit, just a major credit card.

Atlanta or Miami, Tim.
A mighty long drive from where I sit, but thanks for the suggestion.
I'll remember it.

I know you do Greybeard....it's just a case of Long Time No See. You've missed out on SO MUCH CRAP going on starting about two weeks ago.

So...I came here...just wandering around.

@Dana-
Seemed to me you were having trouble with an anonymous commenter, and were accusing me of that... therefore, confusion.
I like stopping by your site and enjoy commenting on your thoughts. But I won't "sign up" to make comments...
Too much trouble.
