Another Guy Taking "First Steps"

While being VERY aware of the past.
Interesting stuff here.

I read "Chickenhawk" when it first came out in paperback, what, 30 years ago? -- at least. I loved the hell out of that book. I enjoyed it because of the detail in relationship to the methodology of training itself, and the detail regarding the flying of a helo.

I never read the second book but I understood he did in fact do jail time. About 15 years ago I read a paperback called WEAPON by Robert Mason, whose cover depicted some kind of bionic arm. I never made the linkage between these two books having the same author.

My copy of "Chickenhawk" is since long gone, but I'd enjoy scouring up another in order to relive my long lost yoot.

Both books are on my shelf BZ.
The ending of "Chickenhawk" was stunning...
The thought that he'd do such a thing and go to jail.

"Back In The World" covers Mason's time in prison and his journey to become a published author. It's interesting, but a bit of a letdown after the excitement of the first book.

Still, he's a good guy. He came to one of the VHPA (Viet Nam Helicopter Pilot) conventions and apologized to everyone assembled there and asked for forgiveness.
That took guts.

No kidding. I hope things are finally going well for him now!
