I think the only females that get their panties in a wad over using the male term for anything, or calling a repairman a repairman no matter the gender have serious issues with their own self-worth. I could care less if I was elected to Congress and someone called me a Congressman.
Well, that may be a bad example considering the negative connotation associated now with any politician, but you get my drift.

Offended? No, not really.
But, I prefer police officer.
And yes, I'm with you. Chairperson sounds stupid. Mankind certainly includes women, etc.

Back in the stone age when I was being taught Elementary school grammer, the male gender was the correct grammer for an unknown gender.
