Thirst Quenching!

Curiosity can complicate life.
I picked up the can and squinted to read the small print-

Water.
Sucrose.
Dextrose.
Citric Acid.
Natural Flavor.
Salt.
So far, so good. Nothin' too far outta the ordinary here.
Sodium Citrate. (Okay, more salt. But salty "citrate"? Whazzat?)

But now, pay attention!
Monopotassium Phosphate.
Modified Food Starch. (Modified? Like Frankenstein's monster?)
Red 40. (Thank God. That's SO much better than Red 35!)
Glycerol Ester of Rosin. (Uhhhhhh.... HUH?)
Caramel Color.
(I LOVE caramels! I even love their color!)

Most all of us have ingested this product at one time or another, and the stuff is supposed to be good for you.
It's another label I wish I hadn't read.

And that is why I have tried to adopt a strict policy of not reading ingredient labels whenever I can help it. Seriously, though. Glycerol Ester of Rosin? What does that even mean? It reminds me of a song I heard when I was a kid.

Have you looked at their product line lately? I'm not even sure which one to buy. I just want regular ole' basic in the bottle. Don't need no lightening bolts.

Someone should write a book....an ingredient-to-english translation dictionary.

Not just for food, either. Shampoos, soaps, even the clothes we wear...alien stuff.

I wonder if sparrows adapting to fries from McDonalds will eventually evolve into a different species:

Ingredients: Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil), natural beef flavor, citric acid, dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate, salt.

All fried in Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ, dimethylpolysiloxane.

Ugh. Just plain ugh. One wonders if all this synthetic chem-crap isn't what leads to cancer? Especially if ingested on a daily basis. Even aspirin can kill.

Things we eat, slather on our bodies and inhale are frightening these days. We are trying very hard to be healthy, but the environment is fighting with us.
We do avoid things from China, if possible. Years ago, my Japanese friend said to not eat anything from China. She was right.
As for soaps, if you live in the area where you can shop at Ross.
They have amazing soaps from Italy and England without all the harmful stuff in them for half price and it does amazing things for your skin.
Your shower should have a filter.
Drinking water can be filtered with a Zero Water filter.
A regular detoxifying regime is very important. Anything you use or ingest with aluminum stores it in your brain.
So many things to think about as we try so hard to reach old age.
Most of today's diseases, we bring onto ourselves without even knowing.
