A Little Trivia, and More:

A couple trivia questions you may find interesting-

1. Who signed Clark Gable's military discharge?

2. The first person to fly the English Channel over and back, he was the first Briton killed in an airplane accident. You know his name, followed by a hyphen. Who was he?

And finally, news we'll all hear soon about someone we thought dead
who might not be so dead after all!

I am hoping it was ol' Charlie Rolls of the Rolls Royce Fame! I do know he died flying a Wright Flyer that came apart. As sick as this sounds I am hoping he was the first Brit to experince this...

Fireworks, bells, and confetti!
Tumo is correct... the hyphen falls between the names Rolls and Royce.

I think Lt. Thomas Selfridge was first to die in an airplane on this side of the pond, also in a Wright Flyer with serious mechanical problems. Orville was piloting, and spent 7 months in the hospital recovering from the accident. Selfridge Air Force Base was named in the Lt.'s honor.

Now another trivia quickee along these same lines...
Why is Scott Air Force Base in Belleville IL unique in ALL the world?

Named after an enlisted man?

Did you know that Cary, or did you have to look it up?!!

Corporal Frank Scott is the only enlisted man with an Air Force Base named in his honor...
(Killed in another Wright Airplane!)
These guys were fearless, climbing into (onto?) these machines!

Would you believe it was a lucky guess? I knew that there was one airfield named after an enlisted man, and since you came up with trivia questions, I made a wild guess that that was the one.
